A recent survey by Manufacturing Performance Institute looked at some reasons behind the success of large manufacturing companies. The survey sought to understand the importance and progress that manufacturers have made in six strategic areas: customer-focused innovation; human capital acquisition, development, and retention; process improvement; supply chain management; sustainability; and, global engagement. 

The research suggests that while many companies understand the key elements that drive successful business and growth, they are sometimes unable to implement solutions to some of these factors. “While companies understand that they need a recipe for success, being able to execute (or implement) the recipe is equally important.”
